Today at work, a girl I work with oh-so-helpfully directed me to "be more on the ball".

Ya. Thanks. Clearly, I was making mistakes on PURPOSE and that helpful hint put me on the right track. And thank GOD she said it in front of a customer. I mean, I hadn't been so mortified in front of a customer in... well, my LIFE, actually.

So now that I've been corrected that, in order to improve my performance, I need to find a ball and stand on top of it, I have a very clear idea of how to succeed as a coffee bar attendant. Now I can die happy.

Went to the Sydney Film Festival today to see the movie Wilbur, a Danish/Scottish film. It was fantastic. Highly recommended.

It was shown at the beautiful State Theatre. Oi. Just gorgeous.

I love the Salvation Army. I bought two new sweaters and a tank top for $10!
YAY for shopping! Yay for the Salvation Army. I finally have winter clothes that I can afford to just leave behind when I don't have enough room for them in my pack!

God love the Salvos!
(Thanks Raye)

Saw the Matrix Reloaded yesterday.

I loved it SO much.

Now, go ahead and email me about it. I can't wait to have a philosophical discussion about it.

Yesterday was Femke's birthday.

Our household (plus Femke's other Cdn friend, Susie) went out for thin-crust pizza at Arthur's Pizza in Darlinghurst. I'd heard it was some of the best pizza in Sydney. I was disappointed. It even had goat cheese and I was STILL disappointed! We had some lovely PepperTree Chardonnay, though.

Then we went to the Imperial Hotel next door, where Femke used to work. (It's actually a pub.) Had drinks there with my new housemate, Jim, telling me that I need to be less nice, more cutting. I'll work on it.

I also had to defend Toronto. Susie is from Vancouver and told everyone that Vancouverites are more active than Torontonians. I do NOT believe this is true. Of course, this is solely based on my biased, anecdotal evidence.

Now I'm looking for a new roommate as Femke is leaving for New Zealand on Sunday.
Know anyone who's looking to share a room in Sydney for two months?

Yesteray, Andrea and I went to the Good Food and Wine Show again. This time, we spent the whole day and another Canadian girl (from Vancouver) that's staying in Andrea's hostel came out too.

Ate so much good food and tasted so much wine. They even had 4 Okanagan wines there, but on display only; not for tasting.

I tasted coffee and cereal, yogurt and chocolate, many soy products, cookies, tea, fruit, liqueurs and wine.
And I met Donna Hay, celebrity chef extraordinaire!

Following an email from a good friend, I again realized how much I really do prefer that people be straight up with me.

Here's a tip: don't side-step the truth or tell me what you think I want to hear, or ignore it and hope the whole thing will go away. In the end, it's much better - much easier - to tell me the truth. Let me deal with it. I will get over it.

I detest it when people mislead me or don't tell me everything I need to know about a situation. Makes me feel like an idiot. Makes me feel played. There's a reason why I have trust issues.
